 Mr Richard Dowling & Mr Cormac Gollogly. (Picture Courtesy Getty Images.) The first Irish same sex marriage has taken place in Ireland today following the newest Marriage Law of 2015, coming into legislation.
A currently Dublin based couple, Mr Richard Dowling and Mr Cormac Gollogly, have become the first same-sex couple to ‘tie the knot’ here in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary this morning
The couple who have been together for 12 years, officially got married in the presence of the Senior Registrar for Co. Tipperary M/s Mary Claire Heffernan, latter who confirmed that they were the first same sex couple to be civilly married in the Irish Republic.
The couple who had gotten engaged in Spain several years ago, were legally married just two months after they had entered into a Civil Partnership at the luxurious, 1822 established, Kilshane House Hotel situated on Bansha Road, Tipperary; latter also the former wedding venue of Thurles native and ‘The Saturday’s’ girl band member, Una Fodan (nee Healy).
Mr Gollogly’s mother was originally Rosemary Ryan from Roscrea in Co. Tipperary, while Mr Dowling’s mother was Kathleen Rafter from Rathcabbin, in Co. Tipperary.
The couple had already enjoyed a honeymoon in the Maldives islands, (Latter situated in Indian Ocean), just last September and following today’s ceremony in Clonmel, they both returned to Dublin to enjoy a celebratory lunch.
To Richard and Cormac go all our best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous long life together.
 The wedding took place on August 22nd last of the very lovely Miss Clare Monahan, to Mr Sean White.
Clare, a native of Thurles, and Sean both travelled home from Australia to ‘tie the knot’ and the Bride was chauffeured from her native Thurles to the church of The Sacred Heart situated in the picturesque village of Templetuohy for the ceremony.
Escorted down the aisle by her father Larry, Clare looked stunningly beautiful in her wedding gown. Equally beautiful were her four accompanying bridesmaids; sister Tara Monahan (Maid of Honour) and Bridesmaids; Lynn Maher, Theresa White, Deirdre O’Gorman.
Also adding to the splendour of this occasion were Flower Girls; Miss Emily White, Roisin Maher and Pageboy Jack Monahan.
Sean, the Groom, was attended by Colm Ryan (Bestman) and Groomsmen Michael White, Johnny Brown & Bobby Monahan.
The couple proclaimed their love for each other in front of a large gathering of family members and close friends, same beautifully conducted by Rev. Fr Pat Murphy, a close friend of both families.
Following a very beautiful and relaxed ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs White retired to the ever popular Tipperary wedding venue, the Abbey Court Nenagh, Hotel, where guests were entertained to a champagne and wine reception, together with other light refreshments.
Their wedding video was recorded by the very popular Tipperary videographer Mr Joe Boland of Abbey Video Productions Cashel. Following family photographs in the wonderful private gardens attached to the Hotel, the newly married couple joined their guests in the venues main Banqueting Suite for dinner, latter which was followed by dancing very late into the evening with music provided by popular band ‘ The Paddies.’
The couple had previously chosen to travel around Ireland for a few days to relax, covering Dingle and other popular coastal areas in the west of Ireland before returning to Australia a few days later.

The wedding took place in brilliant sunshine yesterday of the very lovely Miss Jackie Harris, daughter of Mrs Eileen and Mr Liam Harris, Horse & Jockey, Thurles; to Mr Stephen O’Reilly, latter son of Mrs Colleen and Mr Frank O’Reilly, Termonfeckin, Co. Louth.
The Bride was chauffeured to her native Church of St Peter In Chains, latter situated in the picturesque hamlet of Moycarkey, near Thurles, Co. Tipperary, by Mr Michael F. Hogan, in a rare vintage 1963 Silver Cloud III, formally owned by William Waldorf Astor, 3rd Viscount Astor.
Their wedding ceremony was conducted by Rev. Fr. John Morris a relative of the Harris family, ably assisted by Rev. Fr. Lorcan Brennan and Moycarkey PP Rev. Fr. George Bourke.

(August 30th 2014) Escorted down the aisle by her father Liam, the bride looked stunningly beautiful; wearing a striking V Neck afternoon wedding gown, with embroidered tulle overlay, lined with smooth satin, latter designed by Amy Hamilton and beautifully foiled by a two-tier chapel bridal veil.
Equally beautiful was her accompanying bridesmaid and sister, Miss Triona Harris, who wore a maxi length ‘eggplant-purple’ gown cinched at the waist with beaded embellishment.
The groom Stephen, together with Adam Meah (Best Man) both looked dashing in their dark suits, elegantly highlighted by white shirts, silver coloured waistcoats and matching ‘eggplant-purple’ and white ties.
The couple proclaimed their love for each other in front of a large gathering of family members and close friends, with music and vocals provided for the ceremony by the well-known and very popular ‘Michael John String Quartet,’ from Tipperary town.
Scripture readings were undertaken by Helen Harris and David Burns, while prayers of the faithful were read by Peadar Kehoe, Gretta Dunne, Marian MacCourt, Lorna Kollat and Michéal Lambert. The Offertory Procession of bread and wine were carried to the Alter by Mrs Eileen Harris and Mrs Colleen O’Reilly, both mothers of the bride and groom. The customary wedding day ‘Communion Reflection,’ was recited by Frank O’Reilly, father of the groom.
Following a very beautiful and relaxed ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs O’Reilly retired to that ever popular Tipperary wedding venue, Dundrum House Hotel, Dundrum, Co Tipperary, where guests were entertained to a Champagne and Wine reception, together with other light refreshments.
Following family photographs in the wonderful private gardens attached to the hotel, the newly married couple joined their guests in the venues main Banqueting Suite for dinner, latter which was followed by dancing very late into the evening; music provided by popular band ‘Bentley Boys’.

 A helicopter pilot in his 50’s was luck to escape when his R 44 Raven helicopter crashed, just before it was due to pick up a newly married couple yesterday.
It is understood that the accident may have been caused when the chopper clipped cables on the Kinnitty to Camdamstown Road, just beside the school in Kinnitty, Co Offaly, as it came in to land in a nearby field.
The pilot, understood to be from the Roscrea, Co Tipperary, area, escaped comparatively unscathed, following the mid afternoon incident.
The helicopter was scheduled to pick up a newly married couple from a landing site near their Church in Kinnitty and take them to their wedding reception at a Roscrea, Co Tipperary hotel.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) has launched an inquiry.

The Bride was chauffeured to her native Church of St. Patrick, latter situated in the picturesque village of Doon, Co Limerick, by Mr Michael F. Hogan, in a rare vintage 1963 Silver Cloud III, formally owned by William Waldorf Astor, 3rd Viscount Astor.
Shortly thereafter the happy couple were united in a wedding ceremony, beautifully conducted by Rev. Fr.Tony Ryan, latter a close friend of both families.
Escorted down the aisle by her father Pat, the bride looked stunningly beautiful; wearing an intricately beaded ivory afternoon wedding gown with sweetheart neckline, latter from the ‘Mori Lee’ collection by Madeline Gardner. Same was beautifully foiled by a two-tier chapel bridal veil attached to a tiara, delicately embellished with cubic zirconium.
Equally beautiful were her two accompanying bridesmaids; Niamh Hanley (Maid of Honour) and Aishling O’Mahony, both of whom who wore full-length, cadbury purple, V-necked evening gowns. Also adding to the splendour of this occasion were Flower Girl Miss Sophie Ryan and Pageboy Master Jake Ryan.
The groom, Pat, together with Thomas Ryan (Bestman) and Michael Collins (Groomsman) all looked dashing in dark grey evening suits, elegantly highlighted by white ‘Oxford Plain’ shirts with ivory waistcoats and matching cadbury purple silk cravats.
The couple proclaimed their love for each other in front of a large gathering of family members and close friends, with music and vocals provided for the ceremony by the well known and very popular ‘O’Connell Sisters,’ from Kilcommon, Co Tipperary.
