Victim Of Tipperary Hit & Run Named Locally.

Following intensive investigations by Gardaí, over the previous 36 hour period, a man understood to be in his early 20s, is helping Thurles Gardaí in relation to the fatal ‘hit & run’, which occurred in the vicinity of Clonmore, Templemore Co. Tipperary, early yesterday morning.

The victim, named locally as Mr Tony Cullen, sadly lost his life, while just a short distance from his home in the area.

Mr Cullen, who was unmarried, and who had spent his career in the Defence Forces, before retiring more than 10 years previously; worked as a barman in the area and was well known to village residents.
He had left a pub in the village shortly before the accident occurred, with the driver of the offending vehicle failing to remain at the scene of the accident.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward as they investigated the death.

Forty Year Old Motorcyclist Looses Life In South Tipperary.

A male motorcyclist has sadly lost his life, following a collision with a lorry in South Co. Tipperary.

The fatal crash occurred on New Road, Lisronagh, Clonmel at approximately 10:00am.

The body of the motorcyclist, a man understood to be aged in his 40s, was removed to Tipperary University Hospital.

The road was closed this morning and diversions were put in place, as Gardaí awaited the arrival of forensic collision investigators.
No other injuries have been reported.

Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to come forward, and are asking that any road users who may have dash camera footage, while travelling on New Road, to make same immediately available.

Gardaí are particularly looking to speak with a number of motorists who may have been present at, or driven past, the collision to make contact with them.

Pedestrian Looses Life In Possible Hit & Run Road Incident.

A man has lost his life, following what is believed to be a ‘hit and run’ incident, here in North Co. Tipperary, in the early hours of this morning.

The deceased man, understood to be in his 60s, was found lying by the side of the R433 road, near the village of Clonmore, Templemore, Co. Tipperary.

Gardaí attended at the collision scene shortly after 1:00am, following which the man was sadly pronounced dead.

The body of the deceased remained at the scene this morning, with the road remaining closed to allow Gardaí undertake a full technical examination of the area.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to immediately come forward.
Road users who were travelling in the area late on Sunday night or in the early hours of this morning, (Monday, November 21st, 2022), are asked to make same immediately available.

Cable Contractors Demonstrate Contempt For Thurles Residents

Contractors laying cable on Ikerrin Road, on the east side of Thurles town, have demonstrating their contempt for local residents and Irish Water (Uisce Éireann).

The company contracted we understand by ‘eir’, having dug up pavements in the area and in repairing same, using tarmacadam and a vibrating wacker plate compactor machine, have refused easy access to domestic water metres, latter owned by Irish Water.

Easy access to each of these metres is important, since meter boxes also contain stopcocks, latter controlling the flow of water going to individual private houses.
Same over the past week have been left buried in compacted tarmac.

Pouldine Area Of Tipperary Without Broadband Services Following Collision.

Thurles Gardaí have arrested a male on suspicion of drink driving after his motor vehicle lost control and crashed into an ESB pole and a fibre broadband junction box in the area of Pouldine cross located between Thurles town and the village of Horse & Jockey. The area is expected to be without a broadband service for possibly up to 7 days.

Meanwhile, Tipperary Roads Policing Unit have also removed two other cars from our roads yesterday.
The first vehicle was intercepted in Thurles, with the driver found to have no insurance and no Road Tax.

The second vehicle was seized in the Templemore area, with the driver found to be without Insurance; NCT; Road Tax; being a Learner Driver unaccompanied, and exhibiting no L-Plates.

All drivers now face court proceedings.
