Following our recent report on the sad passing of hurling legend Mr Liam Devaney, on Tuesday 15th August 2017 last, we have received unprecedented requests; sent by email, asking that we name the other players in the picture, used in this report.
Following confirmation by Mr Liam O’Donnchu, we are now happy to fully caption the published picture as follows:-

It was with great sadness we learned of the death yesterday, Tuesday 15th August 2017, of Tipperary sporting legend Mr Liam Devaney, Hillview Drive, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, and formerly of Lower Main Street, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
A prominent member of the celebrated Co. Tipperary hurling team that brought home the Liam MacCarthy Cup four times in five seasons and who personally held five All-Ireland hurling medals, Mr Devaney passed away, following a short illness yesterday; aged 82 years.
Mr Devaney first made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen; then selected for the Tipperary Minor Team. Following two undefeated Championship Seasons, winning back-to-back All-Ireland Medals in 1952 and 1953, he was added to the Tipperary Senior Panel, during the 1954 Championship.
Over the course of the following fourteen seasons, Mr Devaney became one of Tipperary’s most versatile players, winning five All-Ireland Medals beginning in 1958, and followed by four further Championship wins in five seasons, between the years 1961 and 1965.
Mr Devaney also won eight Munster medals, eight National Hurling League medals and was named ‘Hurler of the Year’, in 1961. He played his last game for the Premier County (Tipperary) in October of 1968.
His passing yesterday is most deeply regretted by his beloved wife Hannie; daughters Siobhan, Louise, Carolanne, Valerie and Claire; son Seamus; grandchildren; great grandchild; family members; extended relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Funeral Arrangements
The earthly remains of Mr Devaney will repose at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, on Friday evening next, August 18th, from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
Removal will take place to the Church of The Sacred Heart, Borrisoleigh, Thurles on Saturday August 19th, for Requiem Mass at 11.00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St. Brigid’s cemetery Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Well why don’t you and your family join everyone else, just 5km outside of Cashel, in Co. Tipperary, where the Dualla Show will be taking place.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of the historic 18th century Ballyowen House, here every year you will find a broad mix of agricultural events; machinery; food stalls and kids’ entertainment.
One of this year’s big attractions this year, will be the FREE Big Top Circus – Circus Gerbola! This year the free family and children’s entertainment will be second to none; with a FREE Big Top Circus running throughout the day, featuring clowns, jugglers, acrobats, daredevil tightrope walking, and a host of other speciality acts. The circus will perform four, forty-five-minute shows; starting at 1.00pm, so there is plenty of opportunity for everyone to view.
So too returns the incredible Tipperary Truck Show, same promising to be the biggest yet to date, with hundreds of trucks forming a true viewing spectacle.
RTE and TV3’s Chef Adrian Martin will be on hand; running cookery demonstrations throughout the day, while the Grand Prix Show Jumping and Livestock Shows will highlight the best in horses, cattle and sheep from around Ireland. This year’s livestock section alone has over 100 cattle and sheep classes, with two new classes added; Best Traditional Breeding female and Best Continental Breeding female, plus a prize of €500 cash for the Best Pair in Show. In the sheep section, exhibitors will compete in ewe, lamb, hogget and ram classes, with the highlight being the Champion Zwartbles.
For lovers of motor vehicles, the VAG Car Show is back for its second year, with some of the best in modified and classic cars. A dedicated Volkswagen / Audi group car show that also includes Seat, Skoda and Porsche cars, will offer a rare opportunity to view some of the best in highly modified vehicles.
This year’s dog show is expected to be the biggest yet to date, with classes open to all canines, (both Mongrel and Pedigree), with two judges on hand to help get through a large number of entrants.
Featured also will be:- Modified Tractor Pulling; ‘Tug O’War’ competitions; Wrestling; a Food Village; an Emergency Services Display (Crash response re-enactments); An Auction; Local and National Trade Stand Exhibits, and most importantly a secured ‘Kidszone’, with 10 totally FREE Bouncy Castles, running non-stop, to ensure all young people are fully entertained.
The whole event is planned to ensure both you and your family enjoy a truly great one day break so looking forward to meeting with you on Sunday 27th August 2017.

Important Notices for Visitors:
Parking:
Substantial car parking is available on site with just a short walk to the show grounds. Stewards will assist visitors on arrival.
Disability Parking and Mobility Assistance:
Disability parking is adjacent to the main entrance & the Ticket Cabin, with a very short walk to the show entrance. Here you can find disabled parking and our mobility assistance vehicle will be running all day around the main show grounds. Starting from the ticket entrance it will follow a route with a number of drop off / pick up points around the showgrounds. Food, Toilets, and other Facilities:
A food village area will provide a wide variety of hot and cold foods throughout the day.
Toilets are provided & sign posted on site.
A Baby-Changing area can be found, located behind the main stage, close to the ‘Kidszone’.
Gates will open to the public at 11.00am. Entry for adults is €15, while young people aged 16 and under are free.
A long standing, competitive member of Thurles Golf Club was involved in a serious car crash some 12 months ago and was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.
Just before being put under anaesthetic, his surgeon (as surgeons do), popped in to see him prior to his necessary and impending surgical procedure.
“I have some good news and some bad news,” says the surgeon. “The bad news is that I have to totally remove your right arm!”
“Oh God no!” cries the golfer. “My golfing is over! Please Doc, what’s the good news?”
“Well, the good news is” said the surgeon, “I have an available fresh doner part to replace it with; however it’s a woman’s arm and I will need your express permission before going ahead with any future transplant.”
“Do your best doc,” says the golfer, “I don’t care, as long as I can play golf again.”
The operation went well and one year later the golfer was again out chasing that little white ball at Thurles Golf Club. Out also one morning just happened to be his surgeon.
“Hi, how’s that new arm?” asks the surgeon.
“Just great,” says the golfer. “I’m playing the best golf ever. My new arm has a much finer touch, and my putting has improved immensely.”
“That’s great, I’m so delighted” said the surgeon.
“Not only that,” continued the golfer, “but my handwriting has improved, I’ve learned how to sew and knit and I’ve even taken up painting early morning landscapes in watercolour.”
“Truly unbelievable!” said the surgeon, “I’m so glad to hear the transplant was such a great success. However are you experiencing any side effects at all?”
“Well, just two minor side effects”, said the golfer, “I have trouble parallel parking, and every time I get a sexual urge, I also seem to develop a feckin headache.”

Current Liam MacCarthy Cup holders Tipperary recorded a 6 points win over Clare yesterday with a superb exhibition of open play point scoring from John McGrath, rightly declared “Man-of-the-Match”.
 Tipperary were ahead by six points up to midway in the first half, but Clare refused to concede; fighting back to draw level, scoring two goals (6 pts).
Nevertheless, Tipperary were leading 0-16 to 2-5 (11 pts) at half-time, after out-scoring Clare by 5 points in the closing ten minutes.
Tipperary started the second half showing both character and determination, but despite their efforts, saw their two-goal margin cut away to just one point within minutes of the finish.
Holding their determination however Tipperary responded with a further five points, before Clare substitute Cathal Mcinerney rifled home a further late goal.
During the match, superb marksman John McGrath was on target, a magnificent six times, operating from open play, while Seamus Callanan struck home 4 points from open play and a further 3 from frees. Noel McGrath and John O’Dwyer each contributed 4 points, with Patrick Maher contributing 2 points, while M. Breen, S. Kennedy, B. Maher, S. O’Brien, and J. Forde all added one each.
