Seamus Healy TD (IND) Tipperary: (Feb 12th, 2015) “In 2013 while 202 new jobs were created 521 IDA jobs were lost in the county (Tipperary). In 2014 only 16 new jobs were provided in North Tipp and 48 in South Tipp. There were 62 job losses giving a net gain of just 2.
Some 78% of all IDA Jobs were provided in Dublin, Cork, and Limerick.
There is no mention of any town in Tipperary or the building of advance factories or office facilities on any of the sites that are available throughout the county, in Tipperary town, Archerstown in Thurles, Lisboney in Nenagh, Benamore at Roscrea, Clonmel, Cashel or Carrick-on-Suir. It is quite obvious that there is no commitment to job creation for County Tipperary through IDA companies into the future.”
Noel Coonan TD (FG) Tipperary: (March 2nd, 2015) “I have contacted the IDA to outline that FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) must be directed to Tipperary.”
Minister Alan Kelly TD (LAB) Tipperary: (March 5th, 2015) “Tipperary Live Register dropped 9.5% in the past year. Thurles Live Register dropped 10.9%.”
Junior Agri Minister Tom Hayes TD (FG) Tipperary: (March 6th, 2015) “Social Welfare offices recorded a decrease in those signing on last month. This is a sign of a return to job creation.”
Delusion – “Serious mental illness called a “psychosis” in which a person cannot tell what is real from what is imagined.“
Delusion can be observed most frequently amongst the ranks of Tipperary politicians, often occurring in a year immediately prior to a General Election. The identified dangers with regard to this mental illness is that it can be spread quickly; contaminating large sections of the normal public known as “The Electorate,” via the use of Facebook and Twitter. This same unsuspecting infected electorate may now without much thought, automatically and without deliberation, rush out on Election Day and re-elect these very same deluded politicians.
Politicians suffering from delusion believe that whoever opposes them is their mortal enemy. Their immediate defence is to become paranoiac and pay little or no attention to the opinions of normal hard-working individuals. These politicians, in the main and by their very nature, are often greedy, hypocritical and display symptoms akin to macho posturing, often failing to observe these latter frowned upon traits within themselves; instead choosing to blame others for the havoc they themselves have successfully fuelled during their previous political careers.
One of the early symptoms of ‘Delusion’ can be quickly identified in most politicians. Most, if not all will be seen to make attractive promises prior to General Elections and then completely fail to implement them, often even denying that these promises were ever made in the first place, especially having achieved election success.
Understanding the ‘mindset’ of a ‘Delusional Politician’.
Seriously folks, take a look at the unemployment figures for Thurles only, shown above, all supplied courtesy of the Central Statistics Office, (CSO). Before you fully examine these above stated, true, unemployment statistics, refresh your memories as to when current reigning Tipperary TD’s first assumed office.
Our story begins with the Irish General Election which took place on Friday, February 25th, 2011. Its objective; to elect 166 Teachtaí Dála (TD’s) across 43 constituencies to Dáil Éireann, latter the lower house of Ireland’s parliament, also known as “The Oireachtas”. The previous Dáil had been dissolved and the 2011 General Election had been called by then President Mrs Mary McAleese on February 1st, at the request of outgoing Taoiseach Mr Brian Cowen. The members of the 31st Dáil chosen by the electorate met on March 9th, 2011 to nominate their Taoiseach Mr Enda Kenny and ratify the Ministers regarded as suitable to let out on their own.
In 2011 unemployment at the end of March 2011, for both North Tipperary (7,466 Unemployed) and South Tipperary (9,320 Unemployed) stood at 16,786 persons, representing all ages and both sexes. During the months June, July and August of 2012, 2013 and 2014 unemployment numbers greatly increased as newly qualified third level students, their education paid for by Irish taxpayers in most cases, entered the work place for the first time, e.g. in the case of Thurles, expanding unemployment figures by some 2-4 hundred individuals each Summer.
As at February 28th, 2015 unemployment here in Co Tipperary, (again according to CSO figures), stood at 14,176 persons, representing all ages and both sexes, e.g. North Tipperary (6,312) and South Tipperary (7,864) representing a drop of 2,808 persons county wide over the previous four year period.
To understand the mindset of Tipperary’s ‘Delusional Politicians,’ all anxious to gain re-election, you must first believe the following:-
(1) No one single unemployed person ever emigrated from Co. Tipperary or that no one single person died over this four year period.
(2) No one single unemployed person entering the workforce ending up on ‘Jobbridge‘ or took unpaid employment on any form of available Internships, thus avoiding inclusion on the Live Register of Unemployed Persons.
(3) You must also believe that Tipperary reigning Government TD’s, e.g. Noel Coonan TD (FG), Alan Kelly TD (Minister of State, LAB) and Tom Hayes TD (Junior Minister, FG) publicly announced 936 jobs each for the county in the past 4 years.
(4) You must not accept that 3.31 people in every 1000 people emigrated from Ireland in 2014. (The population of Ireland in 2014 was approx. 4.788,202 and when calculations are done this indicates that nearly 15,850 people left this country mostly from rural areas in just one year.) If University College Cork is to be believed, some 165,300 Irish people, latter made up of employed, unemployed and part time employed persons, have emigrated from Ireland over the last four to five years, thus clarifying these calculations.
Of course if you can fully accept this aforementioned fiction, chances are that you, over the past four years have also become infected by ‘Political Delusion’ yourself, thus requiring an urgent visit to your doctor /psychiatrist.
Back in 2013, Tipperary had a Commercial Property Vacancy Rate of 11.1%, and by the end of last year this had risen to 11.9%. A new report out this week, as per the latest survey from Geo Directory, shows that over 11% of vacant commercial properties in Tipperary County still remain registered as empty.
Surely it is time for rural midland counties like Tipperary to stand up and be counted.

 With a General Election due before April 2016, the Labour Party (Irish: Páirtí an Lucht Oibre) held their Party Conference this weekend in the INEC Convention Centre in Killarney, Kerry.
Tánaiste Joan Burton of course was in attendance, as indeed was the self confessed Pretender to her leadership, Mr Alan Kelly, latter honoured to have been given a mandate to serve the people of Tipperary.
(Of course one wonders will there be anything left for him to lead after the next election, as Joan slips away, with her pension, into obscurity.) But then as my granny used to say, “Try not to mock the afflicted.”
In her speech the Tánaiste had no new real announcements stored up to report to the ‘great unwashed’. She did vow to bring full employment back to Ireland in three years. “Everyone who wants a job will have one or at least the opportunity to get one, by 2018,” she unconvincingly rattled without stating any proven methodology.
As expected Joan did launch an attack on mischievous militant elements evident during various demonstrations, accusing them of hijacking and bullying at peaceful protests. Nothing like the belt of a burst water balloon upsetting your hair style to implant forever, political memories, as any rowdy schoolboy will confirm.

 “Democracy: A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.”
According to a report in North Tipperary’s Nenagh Guardian Newspaper, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny is expected to visit Templemore, Co Tipperary, tomorrow Monday (February 2nd 2015). According to this same report the purpose of his visit is to welcome the latest batch of 100 Garda students selected to enter the Garda Training College in the town.
An Taoiseach is also reported to be visiting St Patrick’s College, here in Thurles to observe at first hand the magnificent facilities and opportunities available to current and prospective future students at the College and to meet with the administrator Fr. Tom Fogarty.
Although not publicly reported, An Taoiseach is also likely to visit the Arrabawn CO-OP Group Headquarters in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, in which an event is being held with Ministers Mr Richard Bruton, Simon Coveney and Mr Alan Kelly, Backbench TD Mr Noel Coonan and Minister of State Mr Tom Hayes; latter all believed to be in attendance.
The newspaper reports their source as emanating from Deputy Mr Noel Coonan TD.
Mr Kenny’s last visit to Thurles was almost 3 years ago on Thursday, May 24th 2012. Back then, while speaking to an assembled audience at a convened ‘Breakfast Briefing,’ Mr Kenny stated: “The prospectus for Thurles should be as fine as anywhere else and I will take Deputy Coonan up on his offer to come back to Thurles with positive news for the town. I am happy to associate myself with efforts made locally by bodies such as Enterprise Ireland and Shannon Development to mention a few.”

Thurles.Info, having contacted various development groups, note with some disappointment that as we go to press today, voluntary Tipperary organisations e.g. Thurles Chamber of Commerce, Hidden Tipperary Tourism, Co Councillors, etc., are totally unaware of the Taoiseach’s reported visit.
Perhaps Mr Noel Coonan has “no positive news” for Thurles, or maybe he is afraid of local ISIS activity during An Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s visit.
Still at least now we know that Tipperary people are superfluous to our Irish economy; except in the case of blanket taxation; oh and yes I forgot, future votes for powerless politicians.
The Council of the Year Award 2015 has been won by Tipperary County Council.
Tipperary County Council have deservedly won the ‘Council of the Year’ award at the Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) Community & Council Awards 2015, held in association with IPB Insurance, latter event which took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin last Saturday night, (24th of January 2015).

This annual awards event, hosted this year by M/s Miriam O’Callaghan, recognises and celebrates Community and Councils working together and provides a great opportunity to highlight and celebrate the work undertaken within communities, while also rewarding unsung heroes.
This deservedly won award, as expected, was quickly branded in the press and on local radio, by populist negative Tipperary Independent TD Mr Mattie McGrath, as ‘premature’; latter no doubt anxious to associate himself in some degree with this hard won accolade.
Mr McGrath, in his usual negative tirade failed to mention that all the targets set by this new joint Tipperary authority has been achieved; no easy task when attempting to combine North and South Tipperary into one single unit.
While many logistical problems still continue to demand solutions within this latest merger, Tipperary CEO Mr Joe MacGrath and his Council Team must be fully congratulated in their welding together the uncoordinated hallucinations of Mr Phil Hogan, latter the former dictatorial government Minister, whom history and future elections will record as having contributed greatly to the downfall of the present Fine Gael administration.
Meanwhile a Message to Tipperary Independent TD Mr Mattie McGrath.
“Sir, You were one of five apparently powerless elected Tipperary public representatives who attended at the Horse & Jockey in Co Tipperary on Friday April 25th 2014, for the launch of the “Derrynaflan Trail Tourism Project.” Your attendance was observed by all, as a self promotional long ‘weekend away‘ for Tipperary TD’s, latter whom were originally sent by the counties electorate to represent Tipperary in our National Parliament.
As a Co Tipperary elected representative, please now inform your electorate of your success to-date in changing the current non-lending policies of our Dublin based National Museum and Government, with regard to loaning the Derrynaflan Hoard for three months, to Thurles this year.
Latter Derrynaflan Hoard was taken, without permission or right of ownership, from its rightful home (Co Tipperary), and is now used to attract overseas visitors to Dublin’s already flourishing economy, at the expense of the county you claim to lovingly represent.”
I wonder what day will Vincent Browne be arriving in Thurles for his ‘People’s Debate’ ?
Still today, with the weather so cold, it seems we can relax according to one contributor on Facebook who posted; “Its so cold outside I saw a politician with his hands in his own pockets.”
I wonder was he wearing his own coat?
“Lies, damned lies, and statistics” is a phrase commonly used to describe the persuasive power of numbers and in particular the use of statistics to bolster the spin of powerless government representatives; in their efforts to support even weaker arguments regarding local employment policies.
The CEO’s Tipperary Live Register series gives a monthly breakdown of the number of people claiming Job-seekers Benefit, Job-seekers Allowance and other Registrants as registered with the Department of Social Protection. Figures like those shown hereunder, are published from each local social welfare office in Tipperary. This same Live Register, for some unknown reason, however is not designed to measure true unemployment figures. It includes part-time workers (those who work up to three days a week), seasonal and casual workers entitled to Job-seekers Benefit. It also does not appear to include Registrant figures for those leaving the Unemployment Register to seek work overseas or Registrants leaving only to re register again at another Social Welfare office as part of their efforts to find employment in our major cities.

In the words of award winning columnist Gene Kerrigan (Sunday Independent) “I’m not sure why the media co-operates in this charade – Why do for free, work for which ‘consultants’ are paid enormous amounts?” Journalistic comment in all its forms certainly hit a new low in 2014. Of course the use of the internet and the need to be “first with the news” to generate traffic, has led to a “copy / paste, check and update later” mentality within almost all media sectors.
Look at the recent ‘Press Releases’ posted out by elected North Tipperary TD’s, and published by local media and websites;
(1)“Fine Gael Tipperary TD, Noel Coonan, has congratulated the eight organisations across Tipperary which have been approved for National Lottery funding by the Fine Gael Minister for Children and Youth Affairs James Reilly under the 2014 funding programme.” All hail James Reilly.
(2)“Local TD and Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has welcomed the announcement by his colleague Kevin Humphreys of an allocation of €483,561 for five Tipperary projects.” All hail Kevin Humphreys.
National Lottery Funding of course comes from the everyday grocery store gambling habits of the tax payer. Proceeds are then collected and distributed at the whim of vote catching elected public representative, who in turn want you to believe this funding is their money, to approve and distribute in omnipotent fashion. Of course for some reason such doled out aid further attests to the belief that these same elected public representatives are the great “sustainers’ of your local universe.”

 Five powerless elected public representatives. (Four from Tipperary). The above five senior politicians, Mr M. McGrath, Mr N. Coonan, Mr T. Hayes, Mr J. Deenan & Mr A. Kelly took a long self promotional weekend away from Dail Éireann on Friday April 25th 2014, to appear at the Horse & Jockey in Co Tipperary for the launch of the “Derrynaflan Trail Tourism Project,” but currently remain powerless to control National Museum policy, which could remove up to 300 people from our ever increasing Thurles & Tipperary Unemployment Registers.
Tourism Statistics
Figures released recently, via the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation, indicate that overseas tourists spent just over €3.5 billion in Ireland this year and 7.3 million overseas visitors to Ireland in 2014 represented the highest number in the sector in the past six years. The Confederation also claim that tourism businesses employed in excess of 200,000 people, with 5,000 employees having been added in the past year, and the prospect for a further 8,000 jobs to be generated in our current starting year.
With Tipperary’s recent growing unemployment figures published by the CSO this month and the closure of several well known hotels in this county, it is quite obvious that Tipperary tourism businesses failed to contribute to aiding our counties unemployment during 2014; consequently we have failed as a county to attract and have lost control of our tourism industry due to our failure to demand our fair share of tourism funding.
Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Ms Heather Humphreys has recently announced the provision of an extra €2m in Arts funding, to be expended on Museums in Dublin and in Castlebar, Co Mayo, (latter only six minutes normal drive time via the N84 from Derrywash, Islandeady, the renowned birth place of Taoiseach Enda Kenny). The purpose of this funding has little to do with supporting Arts or Culture, instead it was granted to support yet again the Dublin Tourism Sector.
