From 5.00pm last evening they waited; the young, the old, making up every possible hue and creed – an estimated 30 thousand people – thronging Semple’s field for just a glimpse of their heroes, and to welcome home the Tipperary Senior All Ireland winning Hurling team for 2019.
Chants of “Tipp-Tipp-Tipp” and a chorus of “Simply The Best” could be heard for miles outside Semple Stadium, when at about 7:50pm, Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy and his All Ireland champion athletes, raced unto the specially raised platform.
Congratulations Tipperary, once again you have proved you are simply the best.
