It was with sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Tuesday 8th September 2020, of Mrs Kathleen Brett, Walkinstown, Co. Dublin and formerly of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Predeceased by her husband Eli and son Diarmuid; Mrs Brett passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, while in the care of staff at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her sons Philip and Chris; Philip’s partner Andrew; sister Chris; brother Phil; nieces; nephews; extended relatives; neighbours; carers and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
In line with HSE and Government guidelines on Covid-19 virus pandemic, a small private funeral of 50 family and friends will be held. Her family would ask that over the coming days, everyone who knew Mrs Brett would take some time to light a candle or say a prayer in her memory.

This evening, figures from the Department of Health confirm that there has been zero new deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,777.
However, there are 102 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 29,774.
There were in total 1,672 new cases reported in the Irish Republic, over the past 14-day giving a growing incidence rate of 35 cases per 100,000.
Of these 1,672 new cases over the last 14 days, 92 were in Tipperary; 791 were in Dublin; 131 in Kildare; 116 in Limerick and 46 were in Cork. The remaining 496 cases were located spread across 21 other counties.
There are currently 49 patients confirmed with the virus in Irish hospitals with six of these in intensive care units.

However, there are 66 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 27,257.
The breakdown of the cases are as follows: 21 in Kildare; 16 in Dublin; six in Limerick; and the rest of the 23 cases are in Tipperary, Clare, Donegal, Laois, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo and Wicklow.
Please redouble your efforts in relation to hand washing, physical distancing and reduce contacts until this virus has been destroyed.
The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the thirteenth day in a row.
This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been 1 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic remaining at 1,754.
However, there were 17 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, now at 25,819.
As expected, most reported cases are to be found in counties Dublin, Kildare and Cork.
It is further reported that there are a significant number of people not attending for tests offered; and people are being urged to play their part in stopping the spread of this disease.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, following a collision which involved two motorcycles and a tractor here in South Co. Tipperary.
Tragically one motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was seriously injured following the collision, which occurred at around 5:00pm yesterday on the N74 at Moatequarter, Kilfeacle.
The dead man’s body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
A second motorcyclist, understood to be in his 30’s, was seriously injured and is being treated for his injuries at University Hospital Limerick.
The male 21-year-old driver of the tractor thankfully was not injured.
Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses, particularly any motorists who may have travelling on the N74 between Tipperary town and Cashel on yesterday afternoon and who may have dash cam footage.
