Death Of Micháel Fitzgibbon, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today Saturday 22nd February 2025, of Mr Micháel Fitzgibbon, Monakeeba, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Josephine and John-Joe, brother Sean, sister Mary (Connolly), son-in-law Gary (Wicks), brother-in-law Edward (McGoldrick); Mr Fitzgibbon passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff of St Theresa’s Nursing Home, Thurles.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; devoted and loving wife Ann (née McGoldrick), son John, daughters Michelle (Wicks), Siobhan (Fogarty), Aisling (Quirke), Áine, Marie and Carmel, 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Martina, sons-in-law Joe, Maurice and David, brothers Liam and Patrick, sisters Bridin (O’Gorman), Siobhan (Casey), Ann (Harris) and Teresa (Shaw), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Fitzgibbon will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on Monday afternoon, February 24th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
His remains will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles, on Tuesday morning, February 25th, at 10:30am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Stasia O’Grady, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 21st February 2025, of Mrs Stasia O’Grady (née Walsh), Mullinoly, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her loving parents Frank and Kitty and beloved husband Tom; Mrs O’Grady passed away peacefully while in the care of the staff at Waterford University Hospital (Orthopaedic 2 ward), surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sons Colin, Alan and Michael, daughters-in-law Geraldine, Susan and Rose sisters Brigid, Kathleen, Chris and Bernadette, grandchildren Alexandra, Ryan, Alice, Nancy, Liam and Joe, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Cork at 4:00pm, same afternoon.

Death Of Bishop Emeritus William Walsh, Formerly Of Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 20th February 2025, of Most Rev. William Walsh, Bishop Emeritus of Killaloe Diocese; Ennis, Co. Clare and formerly of Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Ellen and William, brothers Joe, Eddie and John and his sisters Maura and Catherine; Rev. Walsh passed away peacefully at his home.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; nieces Karina, Emma, Miriam and Liz, nephews Michael, Willie, Jim, Mark and Con and their families, sister-in-law Christine, his cousin Fr. Laurence [Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (OCSO)], Bishop Fintan Monahan and the clergy, religious and laity of the diocese of Killaloe, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Most Rev. William Walsh will lie in repose at the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, O’Connell Street, Clonroad Beg, Ennis, Co. Clare, on Sunday afternoon, February 23rd, from 3:00pm with evening prayer at 7:00pm same evening.
Requiem Mass for the former retired Bishop will be celebrated on Monday afternoon, February 24th at 1:00pm, followed by interment, immediately afterwards in the Cathedral grounds.

Death Of Edward Sweeney, Formerly Templemore, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Monday 17th February 2025, of Mr Edward Patrick Sweeney, formerly Templemore, Co. Tipperary; Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, UK., and late of Reenmore, Ahakista, Bantry, Co. Cork.

In his 90th year and pre-deceased by his parents Edward Patrick (Templemore, Co. Tipperary) and Emily (née Thursby, Liverpool UK.), Mr Sweeney, sadly passed away suddenly at his place of ordinary residence.
A former miner (Hilton Main Colliery UK), Schoolmaster (Bluecoat C of E school, Dudley UK) and Company Director of EPS Construction (Northern) Ltd, Mr Sweeney had latterly retired to Ireland, since 2003.

A loyal and true friend to many, his passing will be sadly missed for his kind, gentle and modest manner and his great sense of fun and generosity. His passing remains deeply regretted, by his sorrowing family; loving wife Eileen (née Lewis) sisters-in-law Patricia Hall and Lynn Lewis UK, brother-in-law Michael, nieces Julie and Joanne, nephew Michael, grandniece Hannah grandnephews Bradley, Theo and George, great-great-grandniece Rosa (all UK).

Death Of Pat Carey, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Tuesday 18th February 2025 of Mr Patrick (Pat) Carey, Howth, Co. Dublin and formerly of Garrycummer, Kilcommon, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his brother Seamus and sisters Nora and Mary; Mr Carey passed away peacefully at his place of ordinary residence, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Ann, son Rory, daughter Áine, sisters Teresa and Bridget, brother Larry, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours, friends and his four legged friend Elvis.
