Death Of Irish Comedian & Actor Jon Kenny.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Friday last (November 15th 2024) of renowned Irish comedian and actor Mr Jon (Jonathan) Kenny, Rockbarton, Bruff, Co. Limerick and formerly of Hospital, Co. Limerick. Mr Kelly passed away, while in the care of staff at University Hospital Galway.

Mr Kenny was possibly best known as the one half of the Irish comic duo ‘D’Unbelievables‘; his partener, being Thurles born comedian Mr Pat Shortt.
In 2001 the ‘D’Unbelievables’, won the Meteor Music Award for their roles in the Best Selling Irish Video Category, for their work on “D’Mother”.

The partnership was forced to stop touring after Mr Kenny was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
In more recent times 2022, following a 10 year break from performing, due to his illness, Kenny portrayed the character Gerry in The Banshees of Inisherin, also with Mr Pat Short and Thurles actress Ms Kerry Condon, in 2022. His last acting appearance was in The Hurler: A Campion’s Tale in 2023, appearing as the main character, Gar Campion’s coach and mentor.

Mr Kenny underwent a triple heart bypass and suffered from heart failure afterwards. His cancer recurred again in 2020 and he underwent lung surgery. From 2023, he received chemotherapy after cancer was detected in his left lung.

Aged in his 66th year and pre-deceased by his mother Mamie, his father John and his brother Tom; his passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; wife Margy and children Aran and Laya, sisters Anne, Joan and Deirdre, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, friends and adoring public.

His earthly remains will repose at St. Patrick’s Church, Patrickswell, Bruff, Co. Limerick, (V35E281), on tomorrow afternoon, Monday, November 18th, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, same evening.

Requiem Mass for Mr Kenny will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19th, at 12:00 noon, and can viewed, streamed live online, HERE.
Interment will take place, immediately after Mass, in the adjoining graveyard.

Death Of Norah Keane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a very great sadness that we learned of the death, today Sunday 17th November 2024, of Mrs Norah Keane (née Deere), Knockbrittas, Kilcommon, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Croughlahan, Cappamore, Co. Limerick.

In her 95th year and pre-deceased by her husband John, her brothers and sisters; Mrs Keane passed away peacefully at Deerpark Nursing Home, Schronell, Lattin, Co. Tipperary.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sons Eamonn, Owen, John and Gerard, daughters Betty and Helen, son-in-law Noel, daughter-in-law Anne, grandchildren Grainne, Aisling, Cathal, Donnagh and Barry, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Keane will repose at Whites Funeral Home, Church Street, Doon, Co. Limerick, on Tuesday afternoon next, November 19th from 5:00pm with removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Kilcommon, Thurles at 7:00pm same evening.
Requiem Mass for Mrs Keane will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the nearby New Cemetery Kilcommon, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Jim Kent, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 14th November 2024, of Mr Jim Kent, Ard Mhuire, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway and formerly of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased recently by his beloved wife Phil and son-in-law Peter, his parents and nephew Christopher; Mr Kent passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at the Claddagh Ward, University Hospital Galway, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; daughters Maria Glynn (Ahascragh), Sandra Hughes (Mackney) and Audrey Tighe (Loughrea), son James (Headford), six adored grandchildren Shane, Christopher, Rachel, Amy, Daniel and Aaron, Christopher’s partner Laura, sons-in-law Enda and Padraic, daughter-in-law Lorraine, his brother Bill (UK), sister Brenda (France), sisters-in-law Molly and Liza, brothers-in-law Les and Martin, niece Tracy, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Kent will repose in Grenham’s Funeral Home, St Michael’s Square, Townparks, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway (H53 HK15), on Saturday evening, November 16th, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, with removal afterwards to nearby St Michael’s Square, Townparks, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Sunday at 12:00 noon, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in Creagh Cemetery, Creagh Rd, Townparks, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Tuesday 12th November 2024 of Mr Michael Quigley, Kilbreedy, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his brothers Jim and Martin, Mr Quigley passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; wife Joan, sons Liam, PJ and Paul, daughters-in-law Orlaith, Julie and Mira, grandchildren Allyn, Meghan, Lauren, James, Conor, Liam, Charlie & Hannah, Gwyneth, Rebecca and Helena, grandson Cillian and his mum Aisling, sisters Eileen, Joan, Mary and Claire, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Wednesday 13th November 2024, of Sr. Mary Laura Ryan, Sacred Heart Convent, Blackrock, Co. Cork and late of Drombane Cross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her parents Thomas and Johanna, sister Pauline McGrath, brothers Paddy and Ned Ryan, nephews Seamus Maher and Gerard McGrath; Sr. Mary passed away peacefully.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sisters Pattie Maher (Thurles), Mary O’Neill (Thurles), brother Sean Ryan (Monasterevin), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, community at Sacred Heart Sisters of Jesus and Mary, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.
