American stand-up comedian Mr James Gregory sadly passed away on Thursday last, May 9th, 2024, just three days after his 78th birthday, having suffered cardiac complications.
Born on May 6th, 1946, in Lithonia, Georgia, USA, Mr Gregory was the first member of his family to graduate high school, before working as a salesperson until the age of 36 years, when he then began introducing performers at ‘The Punch Line Comedy Club’ at No. 3652 Roswell Road, Atlanta, in the U.S. state of Georgia.
His death was sadly confirmed on his official Facebook page, sparking an outpouring of grief from millions of devoted fans.
His Facebook page stated “Today, with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of the Funniest Man in America, comedian James Gregory. He brought laughter and joy to countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the world of comedy and those who loved him. James’ three nieces who referred to him as Uncle Bubba; Martha Anne, Mary Jane, and Candie, along with their families, were instrumental in caring for him through his last days and weeks. Gregory first made a name for himself in the comedy world in the 1980s, when he began MCing at legendary ‘The Punch Line comedy club’ in Atlanta in 1981.”
