Do you have a gas hob? Best to check it NOW.
A safety issue has been identified with certain models of Belling, ElectriQ, Cooke and Lewis, Caple, Russell Hobbs and Comfee gas hobs. The gas supply elbow joint from the hob to the gas supply may fracture and cause gas to leak. This means a risk to health or even death from burns, fire, explosion and poisoning from inhalation.
The CCPC is urging and reminding consumers to check if your gas hob is from one of these brands, and to click the links below for the model numbers to check if your particular model is affected.

What to do if your gas hob is affected:
Stop using the hob and contact the manufacturer immediately to arrange for an inspection and modification free of charge by a registered gas installer.
Note: Many consumers have had their gas hobs repaired since the CCPC first highlighted this issue in 2023, but we are concerned that hundreds of affected gas hobs may still be in use in Ireland.
If you smell gas, contact Gas Networks Ireland immediately on Tel: 1800 20 50 50.
