The Department of Health has confirmed 1,189 new cases of Covid-19 here in the Irish Republic.
There are also 95 people who have tested positive for coronavirus currently in our hospitals, of which 23 are in our ICU’s.
In Northern Ireland today, there were 1,430 new positive confirmed cases reported, leaving, in total, 2619 new confirmed cases on the island of Ireland today.
In Northern Ireland, Stormont ministers have decided to delay final decisions on the majority of Covid-19 relaxations, which were proposed for Northern Ireland during next week.
Here in the republic, HSE Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Ronan Glynn, has stated that for those fully vaccinated; the new Delta virus variant, latter now dominant across the EU, poses a serious threat. He further stated that those who are fully vaccinated should not be considering International travel at this time.
Worldwide, sadly at least 4,131,153 people are known to have died as a direct result of the current virus pandemic, with 5,026 of these here in Ireland.
