The Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 365 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic; with same case numbers subject to future data validation.
There are 103 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland, and of that number 41 are in ICU’s.
Up to date news on the opening of vaccine registration for persons aged 40 to 44 years is expected to be announced later this week.
The wearing of face coverings in crowded places will still be required possibly up to autumn or early winter of this year, the Minister for Health Mr Stephen Donnelly has stated. He was speaking during a Seanad Éireann debate to extend emergency public health powers until November 9th next.
The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 5:00pm this evening, now stands at well over 167.41 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 3.47 million.
Meanwhile, the numbers of people in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment payments (PUP) this week has fallen by a further 29,174 to 333,993. In total €102m will be paid out to recipients of the PUP.
