People who have received appointments for Covid-19 vaccinations and Covid tests, are being encouraged to show up as planned. This is despite the ransomware cyber-attack made on the HSE’s IT systems yesterday.
Meanwhile, because of the ransomware cyber-attack, no official figures of new cases were provided by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) and the Health Service Executive (HSE).
Note: the online vaccination system, which went offline for a short time yesterday, is now functioning perfectly and those aged over 50 to 69, who still need to register, are being encouraged to do so.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization’s Director-General Mr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesushas issued a grim warning that the second year of Covid-19 was set to be far more deadly, as Japan extended a state of emergency amid growing calls for the Olympics to be scrapped.
