This evening the Department of Health have confirmed that, sadly, there have been 17 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 3,948.
We further learn that there have been 788 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 209,582.
Minister for Health Mr Stephen Donnelly has stated that he considers it is too early to say when Level 5 restrictions might be lifted. The Minister fears that the number of close contacts per case and the percentage of positive cases, especially in Dublin, are now once again rising.
Relative to midnight last night, (February 13th), 15 further cases of Covid-19 were confirmed over the previous 24 hours, here in Co. Tipperary, with 245 cases identified within the same area, and within the past 14 days.
Of the cases today; 315 are in Dublin, 61 in Galway, 59 in Meath, 42 in Louth, 33 in Kildare, with the remaining 278 cases located across all other counties.
There are 899 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 160 are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.
In Northern Ireland, sadly, 11 further people have died from Covid-19, with 176 new confirmed cases today.
As of Thursday Feb. 11th, the total number of 1st dose vaccines administered, sourced from the HSE’s vaccine information system, was 171,239. Some 89,834 people are understood to have now received two doses of the vaccine.
The New Zealand Prime Minister Ms Jacinda Ardern has ordered the city of Auckland into a snap lockdown for the first time in nearly six months, after three coronavirus cases emerged within their community. The total world wide number of cases identified up to 5:30pm this evening, are now standing at well over 108.6 million confirmed cases, with global deaths heading for 2.40 million.
