It was with great sadness and regret, that we learned of the death yesterday, Thursday 21st January 2021, of Mr Gerard E.P. O’Brien, (B.Agr.Sc.), “Ambleside”, Clongour, Thurles, Co. Tipperary; formerly of Ballina/Killaloe and Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.
A retired Land Commission Inspector and former National President of the Agricultural Science Association and pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Margaret (née O’Keeffe), latter formerly of Ennis, Co. Clare; Mr O’Brien passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at the Mater Private Hospital, Eccles Street, Dublin 7.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving siblings; daughter Eva (Newbridge) and sons Lorcan (Nenagh), Gearóid (Ballina-Killaloe) and Brian (Tipperary Town), his son-in-law Andrew (Cody), daughters-in-law Judy (O’Meara), Caitríona (Morgan O’Brien) and Noreen (Carr), his adored grandchildren, Katie, Nicholas, Harry, Mairéad, Conor, Gearóid, Quan, Anna, David and Robert, cousin Teresa (Cusack), nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours at Clongour and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The funeral cortège, bearing the earthly remains of Mr O’Brien, will leave his residence on Sunday morning, January 24th, at 10:15am, to be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles at 10:30am, to repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, attended by family members only.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
