Killer Covid-19 virus cases continue to rise in Co. Tipperary.
The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that sadly there have been 60 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 2,595.
With our Irish hospital system already operating at surge capacity, there were 3,231 new additional virus cases reported today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 169,780.
Of today’s cases nationally; 931 cases in Dublin, 388 in Cork, 238 in Louth, 155 in Waterford, 151 in Limerick, with the remaining 1,368 cases located across all other counties.
According to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub, to date there have now been 3,520 recorded cases of the killer Covid-19 Virus within the borders of Co. Tipperary, per data relevant up to midnight on Thursday, January 14th, 2021. Sixty one (61) cases are relevant in the 24 hours to midnight on Friday, January 15th, 2021, or 1,600 over the past 14 day period up to the same stated date (January 15th, 2021).
In Northern Ireland, a further 22 coronavirus deaths have been recorded taking their death toll to 1,581. A further 705 new cases have been confirmed, taking their total number of positive virus tests to 94,539.
It is now reasonably accepted that the re-opening of the hospitality sector will now not begin until after Easter at the very earliest. This follows a meeting between representatives of the hospitality sector and a number of Government ministers yesterday where the former were left with the sense that the easing of restrictions will most certainly take longer than was previously expected.
Some 1,800 frontline medical workers will receive Covid-19 vaccinations this weekend. GP practice nurses and Doctors are being administered their first dose of the Moderna vaccine from facilities set up in counties Dublin, Laois and Galway, by the National Ambulance Service.
Meanwhile, anti-epidemic authorities in north China’s Tianjin Municipality are involved in tracing close contacts with ice cream, latter product deemed to be contaminated with the coronavirus, after three samples tested positive.
An Garda Síochána admit that unfortunately, there still remain a minority of our population who are failing to comply with National Public Health Guidelines.
Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, now stands at almost 94 million confirmed cases, with global deaths well over for 2 million.
