5 extra killer Covid-19 cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary, up to midnight last night
The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have sadly been 3 deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 2,120.
There are 313 new additional virus cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 75,507.
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 18 are in Laois; 21 in Kilkenny; 70 in Dublin; 31 in Mayo; 19 in Donegal; 25 in Louth; with the remaining 154 cases located across 18 other counties, with no new cases notified in Kerry and Leitrim.
There were 35 cases being treated for Covid-19 in intensive care units across the Republic.
Ms Elizabeth Canavan, Assistant Secretary-General at the Department of the Taoiseach has advised that with just two weeks to Christmas, people should start to limit their contacts now; particularly if they plan to spend Christmas with vulnerable family members. This advice is based on keeping in mind what happened in countries like Canada and the United States, following ‘Thanksgiving’ celebrations over there.
Data relevant up to midnight on Friday, December 11th, 2020, shows there have been 1610 confirmed killer Covid-19 virus cases identified to date in Co. Tipperary.
An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin has said there will be a build up of Covid-19 vaccine availability in January and February of next year 2021, followed by higher volumes in March, April and May of that year.
A panel of experts within the US has voted to recommend granting emergency approval for Pfizer / BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine, thus paving the way for the United States to become the next country to move ahead with mass immunisation.
Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, now stand at almost 69.9 million with global deaths almost 1.59 million.
