The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 6 deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 2,080.
There are 183 new additional virus cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 73,228, however, a technical IT issue may have led to an under-reporting of some 100 cases today.
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 56 are in Dublin; 26 in Donegal; 13 in Limerick; 11 each in Kilkenny and Monaghan; with the remaining 66 located across 15 other counties.

Health Service Executive Mr Paul Reid is urging people to keep a heightened level of guard over the coming weeks, when meeting friends.
Mr Reid said that there is understandably a natural urge to hug people and wish them a Merry Christmas after spending time at a restaurant or a gastropub, but he warned this will pose an extreme risk.
The Government has stated that the Pfizer / BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine could be available in Ireland from early January, once it is approved by the European Medicines Agency.
There were 239 people bring treated in hospital with Covid-19, with 32 of these being treated for Covid-19 in intensive care units across the Republic.
Northern Ireland have recorded 11 further coronavirus deaths and confirmed a further 456 new cases.
Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, now stand at well over 64.8 million with global deaths at well over 1.49 million.
