11 further new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary
The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 1 further death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,965. (One death denotified)
There are 395 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 66,632. (Ten confirmed cases denotified)
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 11 are located in Co. Tipperary (Total 1,330 cases to date, per RTE summary), 132 are located in Dublin; 31 in Cork; 27 each in Donegal, Limerick and Galway with the remaining 140 cases are spread across 17 other counties.

The R (reproductive) number of the virus in Ireland is down to 0.6.
Currently, there are 279 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 39 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).
An Tánaiste Mr Leo Varadkar is wisely advising people attempting to book flights home to Ireland for the Christmas holidays, not to do so presently. Speaking in our Irish parliament, Mr Varadkar has stated that it was too soon for people to book flights to return to Ireland, adding that such international travel could reseed the Covid-19 virus here. This advice comes as the Irish Airline Pilots Association call for the urgent introduction of a mandatory rapid antigen testing regime, in order to enable the reopening of the aviation sector.
The Department of Health in Northern Ireland have announced that a further 15 people have died from Covid-19 virus, taking their official death toll to 825. An additional 548 cases of the virus have also been confirmed there.
Total global cases this evening, now stand at almost 52.5 million [Global Cases – 52,437,443] with global deaths at almost 1.29 million [Global Deaths – 1,288,529].
