“Keep fighting hard against Covid-19 virus”
An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin has confirmed that the reopening of pubs, hotel bars and nightclubs will not go ahead on August 10th, as had been planned on their original Covid-19 virus roadmap.
In relation to face coverings, An Taoiseach stated such would be mandatory in all retail settings around the Irish Republic, with effect from Monday August 10th, 2020.
An Tánaiste Mr Leo Varadkar said the Covid-19 pandemic is currently spreading around the world with the number of new cases rising again in Europe. He further confirmed that Ireland remained in a relatively good place and the present Government want to keep it that way and not risk the reopening of schools at the end of this month.
Pubs serving food, and all restaurants will now also have to close by 11:00pm, with staff being allowed to stay-on to undertake any required clean up, but can stay open for takeaway and delivery trading.
This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been zero new deaths caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,763.
However, there were 50 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, now at 26,303
Some 73% of cases over the last fortnight have arisen in persons under 45 years, with the median age between 32 and 30 and no longer predominantly limited to the greater Dublin region.
Sectors relating to construction, food production, hospitality and healthcare now have the highest number of clusters.
