The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the ninth day in a row.
This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been sadly 2 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic at 1,753, with one death de-notified.
However, there were 21 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, now at 25,750, with one case de-notified.
Meanwhile, a test is understood to have been developed by the UK Rapid Test Consortium (UK-RTC), latter a partnership between Oxford University and leading UK diagnostics firms. Latter should see plans to distribute millions of free coronavirus antibody tests, after the version has successfully passed its first major trials.
The test is understood to be a fingerprick test, which can tell, within 20 minutes, if a person has ever been exposed to the coronavirus.
The test in trials was found to be 98.6% accurate in secret human trials held back last June.
