Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has intimated that the reopening of pubs could be delayed beyond August 10th, confirming that pubs and nightclubs will most definitely not open any sooner than that date. This decision essentially prioritises schools, healthcare facilities and indeed the countries economy, and was not an easy decision made by government.
The Government has also wisely announced that face coverings must now be worn in all shops, retail settings and shopping centres. The immediate advice is for people to start obeying this guidance immediately, as legal regulations will take some time to draft and implement.
Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the seventh day in a row.
This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been sadly 1 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic at 1,749.
However, there were 21 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 25,698. This latter figure includes the denotification of 6 previously confirmed cases.
