Gardaí yesterday arrested a teenage boy in connection with a fatal road collision which occurred in Co. Tipperary on Saturday afternoon last.
The teenager is the second person to have been arrested regarding this tragic incident.
Readers will remember that one man, aged in his sixties died. He was named locally as Mr Noel McGrath, a former prison officer in Limerick and Portlaoise, from Oola, Co Limerick, close to the border with Co. Tipperary.
A woman also in her sixties received non life threatening injuries in this two-vehicle collision, which happened near Nenagh at around 12.50pm on Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the second vehicle involved in this collision failed to remain at the scene. A man in his thirties, who was later arrested on Sunday morning, has since been released, with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The arrested teenager was detained at Templemore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Further investigations are understood to be ongoing.
