No new virus cases have been confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; as of midnight on Tuesday, May 12th last, with the total number of cases remaining at 524 up to and including that date.
The Department of Health has confirmed, this afternoon, that a further 10 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus here in the Republic of Ireland, over the past 24 hours. These latest figures bring the total number of deaths from this pandemic, to 1,506.
At a press briefing this evening, sadly Health Chiefs have also confirmed that an additional 426 cases of coronavirus have been identified nationally, bringing the total since conception to 23,827.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has stated: “We still want to see progress over the coming days. We need to continue our physical distancing and hygiene measures, if we are to continue to suppress the spread of the disease.”
As the country begins to consider easing restrictions on Monday next, our past behaviours will become even more important. These include ; Handwashing, continued Respiratory Etiquette and continued Physical Distancing.
An Taoiseach Mr Leo Varadkar informed the Dáil today that the Government is confident that Phase One of Ireland’s recovery process can proceed.
