Death Of Fr. Timothy Burke, Ordained St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, Tipperary

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, on Sunday 5th April last 2020 last, of Rev. Fr. Timothy (Tim) Burke, Birmingham, England and formerly of Coolboy, Emly, Co. Tipperary.

Fr. Tim Burke was ordained to the priesthood in 1948 in St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, and prior to his retirement and death at the age of 96 years; served as parish priest of Stone Cross, West Bromwich, UK; where he resided for some 49 years.

Rev. Fr. Burke, passed away peacefully on April 5th 2020 last, while in the care of Robert Harvey House Care Home, Birmingham, England.

Predeceased by his brothers David, Danny, Toby, James and Pat; and his sisters Rita (Maher) and Joan (Quish); his nephews John (Burke), Brendan (Quish) and Willie (Burke), his niece Marie (Burke) and grandniece Ciara (Burke);

His passing is most deeply regretted by his sister-in-law Aileen (Burke); nephews; nieces; grandnephews; grandnieces; extended relatives; wonderful friends, Archbishop Bernard Longley and brother Priests of the Birmingham Archdiocese; together with former parishioners of Holy Cross Parish, Stone Cross.

Funeral Arrangements

In accordance with government guidelines, with regard to the current Covid-19 pandemic and public gatherings; the funeral Mass for Fr. Burke will take place in a private, family only setting, at St. Ailbe’s Church, Emly, Co. Tipperary on Monday afternoon next, May 18th, 2020.

His cortége will leave the village of Galbally, Co. Limerick at 1:20pm on Monday afternoon next, May 18th, to arrive in the village of Emly, Co. Tipperary for 2:00pm Mass.
