“Earth Day” – Not That You Would Notice In Tipperary

“We are losing the battle to stop climate change on planet earth because we are following leaders who have taken us down the wrong road — selling out the green movement to wealthy interests and to corporate America,”

Michael Moore (Film Maker, Author and Activist.)

Not that you would notice here in Co. Tipperary, or indeed across Ireland, but today, April 22nd 2020, is the 50th anniversary of ‘Earth Day’, and we are all supposed to be “Flooding the world with ‘Hope’, ‘Optimism’ and ‘Action’.

Some isolated areas here in Ireland, see the best way in achieving this required hope, optimism and action, is by having our photograph taken, hugging a tree.
However the American documentary film maker, author and activist Michael Moore (Remember “Bowling for Columbine”) has today launched a new documentary entitled, “Planet of the Humans”, which offers to my mind at least, a more sobering take on current climate change and the overall future of the human race.

The documentary “Planet of the Humans”, on his ‘Michael Moore YouTube channel’, [which can be viewed HERE, and runs for 1hr : 40 mins approximately] examines the approach to our growing climate crisis and how, in particular, the US government and wealthy business interests are handling environmental issues.

Amongst those appearing in the documentary are members of environmental groups, politicians and activists including Al Gore, Bill McKibben, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elon Musk and the Koch brothers. The soundtrack from the film includes music by Radiohead, King Crimson and other lesser known artists.

The film is directed by film maker and environmentalist Jeff Gibbs and is making its world premiere via Michael Moore’s Rumble Media label.

For humans who “give a damn” it is a ‘Must Watch’,
but note ‘Planet of the Humans’ will only be available for free on YouTube for the next 30 days.
