Covid-19 Update: Tuesday 21st April 2020 – 44 Deaths – 388 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed that a further 44 people have died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. This confirmation brings the overall total number of deaths to-date to 731.

Today’s 44 confirmed deaths, (consisting of 26 females and 18 males), also sadly confirm that 2 were in the west of the country; a further 2 were in the north-west; while 3 were in the south and 37 in the east.


Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported, as at midnight on the 19th April 2020, has been confirmed at 306, an increase of 6 new confirmed cases.

A total of 388 identified new cases of the coronavirus have also today been diagnosed here in the Republic. Bringing the total since conception to 16,040.

All large gatherings in Ireland will be banned until August at the earliest, as part of new plans due to be announced by the Government. It is understood that this decision was taken by Ministers at a cabinet meeting today. In reality this necessary decision means that that all big concerts, sporting events etc. planned, will have to be cancelled and rescheduled at a later time.

Total number of persons depending on the Irish State for various supports has risen to over one million.
