A female pensioner, aged 67 years, died yesterday in a house fire in Nenagh, North Co. Tipperary.
The victim, named locally as Mrs Maura Houlihan is believed to have re-entered her burning home in an effort to save the family dog. Mrs Houlihan’s daughter, who was also in the building at the time, was taken to Limerick Regional hospital, as a precaution, but later discharged.
The blaze broke out at Sallygrove, Nenagh yesterday morning, Thursday September 26th, at around 7:00am, and Gardai confirm that as yet the cause of the blaze is not known.
Mrs Houlihan is survived by her husband Matt and two daughters, Jacqueline and Yvonne.
