In the second fatal road traffic accident to happen in Co. Tipperary this week and the fourth fatality to happen on Tipperary’s roads in 2019; a man believed to be aged in his 50’s has been killed in a two vehicle collision last night.
The collision occurred on the N24 Clonmel to Carrick-on-Suir road at approximately 10:40pm, with the driver of one of the vehicles pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the second vehicle (an articulated lorry) was removed to hospital suffering with what were described as minor injuries.
The body of the dead man was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out.
The scene remains closed for a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions have been put in place. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Clonmel Garda Station Tel: 052-6177640.
