It is with sadness we report that the body of a female has been recovered from the River Suir, as part of the ongoing search for a 14 year old Tipperary teen, Ms Elisha Gault, who vanished without trace on St. Patrick’s Day, last.
Emergency services are at pains to stress that the recovered remains have not yet been formally identified, and it is not known at this stage if the remains are those of the missing teen.
The recovered body has been transferred to University Hospital Waterford (UHW), for a full post mortem examination to be carried out by the Office of the State Pathologist; latter expected to be conducted on tomorrow, Monday.
The female body was located shortly before 6.00pm this evening, initially by an Irish Coast Guard Sikorsky helicopter. Same was recovered by a nearby team of searchers and divers, at a place called Killowen, on a stretch of river between Fiddown and Mooncoin on the Waterford / Kilkenny border, a distance downstream from Carrick-on-Suir.

UPDATE: Gardaí in a statement tonight, have confirmed that a body found this evening has been identified as that of missing teenager Ms Elisha Gault.
Gardaí thanked all of the volunteers and other search agencies who had helped them in their search operation.
