It is with sadness we report that the body of a missing Tipperary man, Mr William Tiernan, from Coolbawn, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary has been located.
We understand that his body, identified by Gardaí, was recovered at around lunch time yesterday afternoon by Limerick City Fire Services.
Latter were responding to reports that a body had been found in the canal at Pa Healy Road, in the Corbally area of the city. The report had been made by members of the Civil Defence and Limerick Land Search team, who had spent the day searching for the missing man.
A psychiatric nurse; Mr Tiernan had been initially reported missing on Tuesday afternoon, following a night out with work colleagues in Limerick city the previous night, and had been reported as last seen on Denmark Street in Limerick city, on December 12th.
A post-mortem is due to take place today on the 44-year-old, whose body has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick.
