A man has died this morning after getting into difficulty while kayaking on the River Suir in Co. Tipperary.
Gardaí attended the scene of the tragedy, which occurred at Garnavilla, Kilcommon, south of Cahir town, at around 11.30am.
The man, understood to be aged in his fifties, was recovered from the water by local river rescue personnel, before being treated at the scene, but passed away a short time later.
His remains have now been removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
