Fire fighters have worked through the night to tackle a fire at a PVC factory in County Tipperary.
Some eleven units of the Fire Brigade including four special water-carrying units from across North Tipperary remain at the scene of a major fire at the Tippo International Ltd, PVC furniture factory on the outskirts of Nenagh this morning.
The factory is a supplier of doors and windows, together with kitchens, and wardrobes for the Munster region.
The alarm is understood to have been raised at 6.50pm yesterday evening and five units of the fire brigade from Thurles, Borrisokane, Cloughjordan and Roscrea were summoned to join other crews from across the county, to attend at the scene.
Persons travelling to Thurles from the Nenagh area have been advised to take the M7 to Roscrea; travelling via Templemore, as the R498 route presently remains closed from Ballinamona cross.
Gardaí remain at the scene and diversions are fully in place, but thankfully there have been no reports of any injuries as a result of this blaze.
The factory is understood to employ some 81 persons.
