Friar Street here in Thurles has been temporary closed by council workers and Gardaí, due to flooding caused by a heavy downpour of rain, which fell around midday today.
The affected flooded area runs west from Bowe’s Corner; eastward to approximately Stakelums Menswear and wash from vehicles had begun to threaten shop interiors.
Footpath pedestrian traffic is still possible. As at going to press, those wishing to travel in the direction of Holycross are advised to navigate via the route; Croke Street, Dempsey Square, right into Stradavoher, right again into Butler Avenue and left onto the Holycross / Dundrum Road.
Did Friar Street residents register for the water charges?
