Yesterday, (21st September 2015), saw the final signing of a contract, in the Anner Hotel, Thurles, for the extension and refurbishment of the existing old Tipperary Library building, latter situated on Mathew Avenue in the town.
As previously sanctioned by Tipperary Co. Council, the old Thurles Library building will soon become the new administrative offices of the Templemore / Thurles Municipal District Council, with work expected to be fully completed by the end of 2016. The signing of this contract will now see the full commencement of building works; beginning with immediate effect.
No decision as yet has been made as to the disposal of the present Municipal District Council Office, situated on Slievenamon Road in Thurles, latter which, due to limited office administrative space, has now outlived its current usefulness.
