An 18 year old male youth is being held today at Thurles Garda Station, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act; latter which permits the detainee to be held in detention for up to 24 hours.
This detention follows the arrest of a youth early this morning; for questioning by Gardaí in connection with an incident which took place in the village of Borrisoleigh overnight. We understand that the male was taken into custody following an apparent assault which took place on the rural village’s Main Street, just shortly after midnight last night.
The victim is understood to be another male, believed to be in his 20’s and who it is understood suffered only minor injuries.
