F.O'Sullivan

Thurles TV Presenter Fiona O’Sullivan

Irish TV will broadcast a special live All-Ireland Hurling Final TV show entitled ‘Dream For Liam’ from here in mid Tipperary tomorrow night, (Wednesday).

Presenters will be the head of Irish TV Pierce O’Reilly assisted by the very lovely Fiona O’ Sullivan. Fiona, you will be aware, presents the very popular programme ‘County Matters’  for Co Tipperary and Co Waterford every week. (Same can be viewed on SKY 191, online at www.irishtv.ie or on Freesat 400.)

Fiona has been travelling around the county this week meeting the players and the Tipperary supporters and informs us she is looking forward to tomorrows live broadcast and the whole build up to the match, which she is lucky enough to have a ticket to attend.

As already stated, tomorrow night’s live show will be broadcast on SKY 191, online at www.irishtv.ie and on Freesat 400 from 8.00pm to 10.00pm tomorrow night September 3rd; from the Horse & Jockey Hotel.

The Irish TV outdoor broadcast unit will be in position together with the crew from Thurles AV Star Systems, latter who have been busy this week shooting the colours of flags, banners and headbands in schools and streets around Tipperary and editing these same clips for Wednesday’s broadcast.

Note:  A further half hour programme will be dedicated to the Tipperary match on Saturday night on ‘County Matters’ here from Tipperary at 8.30pm.

Tomorrow night’s live show will include insightful and engaging interviews from both camps, expert analysis from top GAA pundits and all the excitement and atmosphere in the built up to the ‘Big Match.’

The ‘Dream For Liam’ live TV show from the Horse and Jockey Hotel will look at the close links and fierce rivalry between Tipperary and Kilkenny ahead of one of the most eagerly awaited All-Ireland hurling finals in years. The show will also include some great music from both Tipperary and Kilkenny while the pundits look at the key battles in the big match and the strengths and weaknesses of both panels.

Tipperary and Kilkenny GAA stalwarts will also take centre stage during the live TV show with former Tipp manager Declan Ryan and former player Joe Hayes among the panellists. They will be joined on the couch by Kilkenny Celtic Cross holders John Power, Michael Walsh and Michael Kavanagh – just a few of the top stars set to feature.
“We have followed the progress of both these counties from the very beginning of the year and we wanted to do something special to mark this historic final. Our live shows ahead of the All-Ireland last year attracted a phenomenal audience and we are confident that it will be similar this year,” commented Irish TV head of programming Malachi Cush.

Entertainment on the night will be provided by the ‘crème de la crème’ of musical acts from both counties with the highly regarded folk group ‘The Kilkenny’s’ set to rock the house. Tipperary will also be well represented in the musical stages by ‘Louise Morrissey’ and traditional music sensations ‘Ceol Trad’ who are set to have the audience and team dancing all the way to Croke Park.

If that wasn’t enough, the legendry duo of ‘Foster and Allen’ are also in this fantastic line up. Mick Foster has strong links with Tipperary hurling. His great grandfather played on the Tipperary winning team in the first All Ireland in 1888 against Galway in Birr. His cousin Matt Hassett captained the 1961 winning All Ireland Tipperary team.

Note: Yes audience tickets are limited for this event, but you can still apply by calling Irish TV on Tel; 098 56582.

It is also interesting to note that AV Star Systems here in Thurles have produced 13 weekly programmes for Irish TV for counties Waterford and Tipperary and are always looking for information and stories for their show. From a business advertising point of view programmes have a very high rating of over 900,000 on SKY every week.
