Gardaí have arrested one male and seized a large consignment of Heroine, Amphetamine and Cannabis as part of an ongoing investigation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Co. Tipperary.
The drugs with a combined estimated street value of some €40,000 were seized when uniform Gardaí and members of the Divisional Drugs Unit searched a house here in Thurles yesterday evening.
A male aged in his 30’s was arrested at the scene. He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Thurles Garda Station, latter Act which can permit his detention for up to seven days for questioning.
The Garda Press Office confirms that investigations are continuing and further updates are now expected to follow.
This report comes amid unconfirmed information that further Garda raids also took place in the Roscrea area. Latter raids came about following two major protest meetings in Roscrea, which were attended by over 1150 people and which were addressed by senior Gardaí, who indicated that plans were in place to call a halt to the problem of drug trafficking within the Tipperary precinct, thus protecting communities from the devastating impact of drugs and associated criminality.

Good on the Gardaí.
Fantastic result for the Gardai. They should now continue and clear out all the dealers in the Thurles area.
