The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTC) will visit Thurles on four separate dates during the coming week.
These visits will take place on the following dates shown hereunder:
When: Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th June, 2014.
Where: The Dome, Semple Stadium, Thurles, Co.Tipperary.
Clinic Times: Monday 23rd – 2:00 pm through to 5:00 pm, (afternoon clinic)
Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th June – opening times will be 6:00pm through to 9:00pm, (evening clinics).
Keep in mind that one unit of blood lasts for just 35 days, while some blood packs for new born babies or cancer treatment, only lasts for 5 days. There is no substitute for human blood and the IBTS supplies 71 of our hospitals here in Ireland with blood and blood products 365 days a year.
Never given blood before? Why not give it a try – remember just one car accident victim may require up to 30 units of blood, a bleeding ulcer could require anything between 3 to 30 units of blood and a coronary artery bypass may use between 1 to 5 units of blood.
The life you may save could be your own.
Always give blood. You may need it some time to save your life.
