Gardaí in Cahir are appealing for witnesses, following a single car collision yesterday just outside Cahir, Co Tipperary, on the M8 motorway and which claimed the life of a male in his 60’s.
The car is understood to have left the motorway, before colliding with an embankment, between Junction 6 and 7 shortly after 4.00pm yesterday afternoon.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while another male passenger aged in his 20’s was taken by Ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel. The latters injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

This man’s death brings to 184 the number of people killed on our roads so far this year; compared to 160 on the same date last year.
Of those killed 93 were drivers of vehicles, while 31 were passengers. Twenty six motorcyclists, five cyclists and 29 pedestrians have also died.
Gardaí are urging drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to be extra careful during this holiday season.
