As expected, De Búrca’s Pub, situated in Cathedral Street Thurles, has won this year’s ‘Best Tipperary Shop Front Award,’ at the North Tipperary County Council’s Environmental Awards held at it’s Civic Offices in Nenagh.
These annual awards now boast a prize fund of some €10,000, and it is the hope of North Tipperary County Council that these awards will continue to encourage communities, thus improving overall, our local environment in Tipperary.
The awards ceremony included winners from; Village Groups, Primary Schools, National Pride of Place Nominees, Tidy Towns, Burial Ground Committees and Business.
Speaking at the event, North Tipperary Mayor, Mr Michael O’Meara, stated that these awards were designed to promote & encourage good community spirit, plus an awareness of all issues relevant to Tipperary’s environment.
Speaking also at the event, M/S Deirdre Cox, North Tipperary County Council Environmental Awareness Officer, stated that it was essential that all hard working local volunteers entered this competition and received their due recognition for their efforts.
