The 43 year old victim, Mr Tom Walsh from Templemore was gunned down during a robbery, which took place before 11:00 p.m. on March 31st, 2012. Mr Walsh is understood to have been alone at a restaurant he managed at Mainstreet Grill, 100 E. New York Ave. near Daytona Beach, Southern Florida, late on Saturday night. The thief made off with just $3,000.
Police are reviewing footage from security cameras at the Mainstreet Grill premises and Deputy Police Chief Randel Henderson said.”There is no further information to share since the investigation is in its early stages. The case is active and under investigation.”
Police stated earlier that they believe the employee may have been the sole worker at the restaurant, during the time of the shooting and that the killing appeared to be related to robbery. Police were called to the scene just after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night by another Mainstreet Grill worker, who had left the building and later returned.
Arrangements are being made to have Mr Walsh’s remains flown home to his home town in Tipperary for burial.
To his family and friends go our deepest and heart-felt sympathies at this time.
