The Department of Health here in the Republic of Ireland has confirmed 4,728 new cases of Covid-19. The latter number includes 2,098 PCR-confirmed cases of the virus and 2,630 positive antigen tests registered through the HSE portal.
As of this morning, there were 933 patients with the virus in our Republic’s hospital, representing a reduction of 71 on yesterday’s figure, with 58 Covid-19 patients in intensive care units across the State.
Sadly 16 deaths have been recorded today, bringing the total number of Covid-19-related deaths since the start of the pandemic is 6,903 as of yesterday.
Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, their Department of Health has been notified of another 770 positive cases of the virus, within the past 24 hours.
This morning, there were 466 Covid-positive patients in northern hospital, of whom 4 are in intensive care.
Sadly also, 3 new Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland today, bringing the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19, since the start of the pandemic, to 3,372.
