Covid-19 Update: Tue. 9th Feb. 2021 – 68 Deaths – 556 New Cases

This evening the Department of Health have confirmed that, sadly, there have been 68 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 3,752.

We further learn that there have been 556 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, here in the Irish Republic, at 204,940.

Of the cases today; 163 are in Dublin, 45 in Limerick, 38 in Galway, 34 in Cork, 29 in Waterford, with the remaining 247 cases located across 20 other counties.

There are over 1,104 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 182 people are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.

The total number of vaccines administered, sourced from the HSE’s vaccine information system, was 236,996. Some 84,344 people are understood to have received two doses of the vaccine.

In Northern Ireland, sadly, 10 further people have died from Covid-19, with 275 new confirmed cases.

An Tánaiste Mr Leo Varadkar has stated that the Government is working on a revised version of the “Living with Covid-19” plan, same he hopes will be announced on the week of February 22nd, 2021.

With experts from the World Health Organization having all but eliminated a controversial theory that Covid-19 came from a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan; the total global cases up to 5:30pm this evening, are now standing at over 106.6 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at over 2.33 million.
