Covid-19 Update: Thur. 21st Jan. 2021 – 51 Deaths – 2,608 New Cases

24 New killer Covid-19 virus cases in Co. Tipperary over the past 24 hours, with confirmed cases continuing to rise.

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that, sadly, there have been 51 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 2,818.

This brings our total death toll so far, in January alone, to 532 nationally.

We further learn that there have been 2,608 new additional virus cases reported in the republic today. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 181,922.

Of today’s cases nationally; 1,019 are in Dublin, 204 in Cork, 135 in Donegal, 132 in Galway, 131 in Kildare, with the remaining 987 cases located across all other counties.

There are over 1,949 people with Covid-19 in hospital, and of that number, 214 people are in ICU, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub. There have been 3,905 cases in Tipperary todate.

Within the last 14 days, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub, there have now been 1,403 recorded cases of the killer Covid-19 Virus, within the borders of Co. Tipperary, per data published up until midnight yesterday.

The Minister for Health, Mr Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that up to last night 121,900 vaccines have been administered to frontline healthcare workers and residents and staff within Irish nursing homes.

The latest figures in Northern Ireland confirm sadly that a further 21 people have died from Covid-19, while another 732 new cases of the virus have been detected. There are 806 Covid-positive patients in hospitals, with 70 in intensive care, today, in Northern Ireland.

Total global cases up to 5.30pm this evening, are now standing at well over 97.1 million confirmed cases, with global deaths well over 2.08 million.
