“No one has ever become poor by giving.” ― Anne Frank.
Ms Kathleen Mockler (Member of St. Vincent De Paul, Thurles) Reports: –
“Like so many other charities this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we at St. Vincent De Paul in Thurles were unable to fundraise in our normal way this Christmas, e.g. We no longer were able to have our Church Gate collections or were unable to become involved in bag packing etc; all of same activities so strongly supported by our local community, annually.
Today in Thurles, for too many people, it can still just take one small problem to tip someone into crisis and poverty. It can be an unexpected illness or unexpected bills. But we know that a little help at the right time can stop a domino effect leading to a family experiencing prolonged hardship.
Many of you regularly support our work. Without this help, we simply would not be able to support those struggling. This Christmas please, please support the St. Joseph Conference’s Appeal.
We are aware it’s been a very difficult year for people in general, but we are appealing to you to give what you can. People can donate online through www.svp.ie/ St. Josephs, Thurles, Appeal.
People can also drop donations in an envelope into our Parish Centre; or into both of our churches; or to the SVP centre in Parnell Street.
We are also here to help where possible this Christmas. You can apply for assistance by Phone, Text or WhatsApp to 086 8437786. You may also apply in writing to SVP Thurles, Parnell Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.”
