One member of staff at the ABP Food Group processing plant in Cahir, Co. Tipperary, has now tested positive for Covid-19.
The Company has stated that on Friday last, (Three days prieviously) ABP Cahir was notified of a positive Covid-19 test on one of its employees, after being referred for testing, understood to be as a result of the company’s factory entrance employee assessment procedure.
In line with Health Service Executive (HSE) and the company’s protocols, all close contacts; some 30 workers, are understood to be self-isolating and are also now undergoing tests. ABP Cahir will now continue to take guidance and direction from both the HSE and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
ABP said it has put in place multilingual signage and briefing packs for all staff, as well as detailed procedures for managing incidents of employees becoming unwell in the workplace.
The processing plant remains open.
This information comes after it has emerged that 29 staff members at Walsh Mushrooms in Golden, Co. Tipperary; same 18.6km from Cahir (just 18 minutes drive) have now tested positive for Covid-19.
