Covid-19 Update: Fri. 7th Aug. 2020 – 4 New Deaths – 98 New Cases

“Keep fighting hard against Covid-19 virus”

This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been 4 new deaths caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,772.

However, there were 98 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, now at 26,470.

Of the cases notified today, 57 are men and 38 are women and 68% are under the age of 45 years.

Residents of counties Laois, Offaly, (latter counties bordering on Co. Tipperary) and Co. Kildare will not be permitted to travel outside of their county boundaries except in limited circumstances, including to travel to and from their place of work, under plans agreed by the Government today. Perhaps Co. Meath should also have been included.

Closure of restaurants, bars, cinemas and gyms are due to come in to effect, from midnight tonight, in these restricted areas and will remain in place for 14 days.
