Dublin continues to remain with the highest number of Covid-19 virus cases at 12,139 (48%) followed by Cork with 1,529 cases (6%) with Kildare a close third with 1,428 cases (6%).
With regards all cases; community transmission accounts for 39%, close contact accounts for 59%, travel abroad accounts for 2%.
The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; as of midnight on Friday last, June 5th, remains at 540, with 0 new cases notified within a 24 hours period. South Tipperary General Hospital, has currently no confirmed cases of the disease
The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 1 person has sadly passed away from the virus here in the Republic of Ireland, over the past 24 hours. These latest figures leave the total number of deaths caused by this pandemic currently at 1,679.
This evening, it has also been confirmed that an additional 25 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total since conception, here in the Republic of Ireland, to 25,201.
People are being warned to continue to avoid large gatherings / family celebrations in private homes or indeed elsewhere.
