The Department of Health has confirmed that a further 41 people have died today, 18th April 2020, from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. This confirmation sadly brings the overall death toll to-date, to 571.
Today’s 41 deaths, sadly relate to 23 females and 18 males, 35 of which were located in the east, 2 in the northwest and 4 in the west of the country.
Here in Co. Tipperary the number of new cases reported, up until midnight as at the 16/4/2020, has been confirmed at 283 since conception.
A total of 778 identified new cases of the coronavirus have also today been diagnosed here in the Republic. This figure includes 148 cases identified by a German testing centre; bringing the total since conception to 14,758.
There had been a drop in the number of hospitalisations and the number of admissions to ICU, but the Department of Health warn that any easing of restrictions in relations to mass gatherings, could see a dramatic return to the virus spreading.
